Salesforce Spring '23 Release - Pardot Updates
We may be a bit late for “Alle Jahre wieder...”, but as usual, the first Salesforce release is on right after the turn of the year: the Spring '23 Pre-Release Notes have been published and we are taking a look at the most important new features for Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (formerly Pardot).

Change in the validation of email sending domains
Email sending domains must be validated via “DomainKeys Identified Mail” (DKIM) in the future. If this is already the case for the sending domains you are currently using, you can sit back and relax. If not, you must complete the following steps for each of your non-DKIM validated sending domains:
- Copy the one from Account Engagement generated unique validation key.
- Add the validation key to the corresponding domain's DNS record.
As part of this change, the DomainKey Policy column will also be removed from the domain management page.
Abolition of real-time automation rules
In June 2023, for everyone Account Engagement Editions abolished the ability to let Automation Rules run in real time. Existing automation rules, which have so far run in real time, will generally continue to function, but just like “normal” automation rules.
So check the automation rules in your account and consider which processes served with Real Time Automation Rules are (really) time-critical. The processes identified in this way may also be possible using the Summer '22 Release map introduced conditional completion actions.
Monitoring external actions
On the one hand, there will be an additional entry in the “Usage and Limits” section in the admin area that makes the use of external actions visible. On the other hand, there will be a new menu item “External Actions Errors”, where possible problems with external actions can be identified.
Account Engagement Optimizer (beta)
With the upcoming release, the Account Engagement Optimizer will enter the open beta testing phase. Beta phase functionalities are subject to separate provisions, but are generally for Account Engagement-Can be used by customers. The Account Engagement Optimizer provides useful information and recommendations for action to optimize your own Pardot instance/business unit. The recommendations relate to email delivery times, visitor tracking, and more.
APIs & integrations
Two of the previously available connectors to external systems have already been removed or will be removed soon: the ReadyTalk connector was switched off as of November 30, 2022, as ReadyTalk has ceased operations. In addition, the Webex connector will be removed on April 1, 2023. If you use one of the two systems, check your reports and in particular any automations that are based on data from one of the two connectors and remove them if necessary.
