Salesforce Winter '24 Release - Account Engagement Updates
October not only brings the change from summer to winter time, but also the Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (formerly Pardot) Winter Release. It is also almost a tradition that we take a look at the most important new features of the latest release.

Waiting times in Engagement Studio
Until now, the minimum waiting time for a step within an engagement program — unless it is to be executed immediately — is one (full) day. This does not allow granular control of an engagement program, and so did the numerous users in Salesforce's Idea Exchange, who voted to introduce shorter waiting times. And they were heard: In future, waiting times can also be specified in hours (between 2 and 8 hours are possible). This massively increases flexibility and would make it possible, for example, to control the sending of emails within a program even across different time zones.
Copying marketing assets between business units
Anyone working in Account Engagement with several business units or with a sandbox knows the problem: What was developed in one business unit cannot be automatically transferred to another business unit. Instead, the corresponding assets must be manually re-created (since the Summer '23 release, a — quite cumbersome — transfer via API would also be possible). So far, this has seriously questioned the benefits of Account Engagement Sandboxes.
However, it will now be possible to transfer assets from one business unit or sandbox to another business unit using Salesforce Flow. Salesforce even comes with a sample flow.
Limit visibility of account engagement assets by domain
To increase data security, it will be possible in the future to restrict or completely prevent the display of account engagement assets such as forms and landing pages via iFrame. So can either
- specify specific domains on which account engagement assets may be integrated via iFrame,
- completely prevents the display via iFrame, or
- be allowed without restrictions.
Updating email templates with invalid sender information
With the Spring '23 release, the validation of email sending domains using DKIM was made mandatory. Since then, emails with an unvalidated sending domain in the sender information can no longer be sent. In order to be able to more easily identify affected email templates, which are integrated into ongoing automations, for example, the optimizer is being expanded to include a corresponding function.
More Pardot updates
The Account Engagement Optimizer now provides information about historical changes to prospects, broken down by feature.
- A paused prospect can be restored by deleting activity data.
- Activity data from unconverted visitors can be automatically deleted after 365 days.
- Updates to objects in API v5
- Dynamic content is now supported.
- The speed of large exports has been improved.
- It is now possible to query via an ID array.
