Salesforce Marketing Cloud Release Highlights Winter '23

Salesforce has announced its Marketing Cloud release for winter 2023, which brings a number of interesting new features. We provide an overview of the most important highlights.

New import options in Automation Studio

In Automation Studio, files can now be imported directly from Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. In addition, it is now possible to trigger automations via API call from Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Storage.

New data views

There are two new data views that should help identify sources of error in automation and find out what causes very long processing times: _AutomationInstance and _AutomationActivityInstance.

Secure custom domains yourself in the setup

Custom domains can now be saved by administrators themselves in the setup. This reduces the waiting time from four weeks to ten days and there is no need to open a support ticket anymore.

Einstein Content Testing

With the new Einstein Content Testing Block, up to 32 images can be tested against each other in an a/b/n test. This can either be carried out in advance tests or Einstein automatically selects the image that has the highest click-to-open rate over the course of a larger mailing.

Einstein Probabilistic Opens

Since openings are no longer a reliable KPI since Apple's Mail Privacy Protection, Salesforce has developed the Einstein Probabilistic Opens feature. In doing so, Einstein calculates the probability that an opening has actually taken place. All Einstein features that use openings now use the calculated probabilistic opens to make more accurate predictions.

Process monitoring in Slack

Slack users can now use the app Digital Command Center use to set up monitoring of automations and journeys. In the event of errors or unusual behavior of journeys (very low or high recipient numbers, etc.), alerts are then posted to a Slack channel.
