Salesforce Marketing Cloud - Alert Manager

A small but nice feature that went live with the July release is the Alert Manager. This makes it possible critical system notifications for email deliveries to the email address of an SFMC user

To do this, a Marketing Cloud administrator must determine a user in the setup under “Alert Manager” who should receive the notifications. As soon as an email delivery from the Email Studio, Automation Studio or Journey Builder fails, this user receives an email notification that also contains a brief summary of the reasons for the error. This applies to both mass mailings and triggered sends.

It is important to know that 1. not every administrator automatically receives the alerts and 2. only one user can be selected to receive notifications. If several people should receive the alerts, Salesforce recommends using an email alias.

Our conclusion: The Alert Manager is a first step towards better process monitoring in the Marketing Cloud and we would be delighted if it would be further expanded in future releases. Until then, in our opinion, you won't be able to avoid setting up your own error logging.
