An intelligent add-on. Publicare apps for Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Our apps extend and enhance the functional scope of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, e.g. with regard to GDPR compliance – in particular when it comes to data erasure and email validation.

Customer inquiries regarding data privacy will focus on two core issues: the data subject’s right of access (according to Article 15 GDPR) and their right to data erasure — “the right to be forgotten” (according to Article 17 GDPR). It is currently not possible to provide information on all personal data stored in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or to fully delete them.

The Publicare app enables you to quickly, easily and automatically identify all entries and links for a specific subscriber key, across all business units and data extensions – including system-related data, such as clicks, bounces and sents. Then this data can be combined and consolidated – either to provide information to the data subject, or to be deleted. You can even do this from within your CRM system via API interfaces. 

Deletion of data in Marketing Cloud

  • Custom-configuration of data extensions with regard to delete behavior
  • Batch processing of multiple deletion jobs via CSV upload

Access to data in Marketing Cloud:

  • Information provided in custom-configured reports
  • Output in a choice of formats: PDF, CSV or JSON
  • Query for just a single master data extension? Not a problem.
  • For each report configuration: process queue and Zip file with included data

An overview of the GDPR app:

  • User-friendly dashboard

Data storage and process automation

Data on erasure/report jobs is held in a database for 14 days, then deleted, including downloadable files. To avoid creating additional data sources subject to GDPR provisions, the app does not keep a history. However, you can use an API to connect the app to your own system in order to maintain your own history. Our development department can provide expert assistance.

The API also enables the quick-and-easy automation of processes such as data cleansing, and providing information to data access requests. Only the initial configuration requires manual effort. The API comprises a REST interface. Using available end-points, you can initiate the corresponding processes and check their status.

Email address validation can be performed at various points in your process:

1) Validation via the form on your website

You can verify email addresses the moment they are entered, ensuring you only accept valid credentials into your Marketing Cloud. This means you avoid communicating with trash addresses and spam traps. When implemented for your newsletter subscription form, or any other online form, our app indicates any errors immediately upon entry of an email address, and suggests corrections (for instance, if a domain name has been misspelt, such as gmxcom instead of gmx.com). Your list will be kept clean, your hard bounce rate will fall, and you will enjoy an enhanced sender reputation

2) Live validation within a customer journey

In this instance, validation takes the form of a custom activity and can occur at any point along the journey. You can configure the validator for each specific journey in line with your need

3) Batch validation before launching a campaign

You can validate multiple addresses before you launch your campaign. You receive an enriched list with details of reachability and integrity of each address. The list can be used, for example, as the basis for updating your contacts or your all-subscribers’ list.

Our app operates in complete compliance with the GDPR, and never stores your customers’ email addresses in plain text. Instead, it compares hash values. As a result, if a customer requests data erasure, you have no need to act. And if there is a request for access, there is no need to include use of the app.
